Coffee is a popular beverage worldwide, which is made from roasted and ground beans of the coffee tree or coffee plant. The coffee has a refreshing effect which is due to the basic ingredient, caffeine, an alkaloid compound found in the seeds of the fruit.

Our traditional coffee, the so-called Greek, makes its appearance during the Turkish occupation. The Greeks of Istanbul and Northern Greece are the first to adopt this habit. Over the years spread to the rest of Greek territory after the cafes in early 1900 also the first coffee shops.

Greek coffee (known in countries of Western Europe as “Turkish Coffee”) is a species of coffee prepared by firing, in brig, milled into a fine powder roasted coffee beans and who drink more than any other kind of coffee in many areas of the eastern Mediterranean,  the Balkans and North Africa.
