Dill was known in ancient Greece under the names dill and anise. From its blossoms they made a fragrance, while adding it to various wines called nahit wine. Still, they crowned the winners with blooming dill twigs, and with the essential oil of their wrists the athletes alienated their bodies because they considered it to be a relaxing and stimulating muscle.
In pharmaceuticals its action is considered beneficial against various colic, and is also used as a diuretic and tonic.
